Dear Foodies and KitchenAngel students

Unlike others inspired from an early age by either an adventurous culinary spirit in the home or a cultural tradition passed on for generations, my early years were spent dodging boarding school food.  Perhaps it was memory of the awfully boring food that led me to pursue a career as a chef,  private caterer and cookery school teacher, a wonderful way to combine business and pleasure. I have a true passion for healthy food and my classes are aimed at getting you in and out of the kitchen in no more than an hour which leaves you with time to enjoy relaxing with your family and guests.

In 20 odd years of teaching I've realised that the greatest drawback to a good performance in the kitchen is an inadequate knowledge of basic techniques. You may be extraordinarily creative in the kitchen, but you cannot take advantage of this quality if you do not know the basics. Knowledge of the basics will allow you to asserts ideas positively in the kitchen, to remedy mistakes and miscalculations and to tackle any kind of recipe because you will COMPREHEND the chemistry of food. This is why I request that you start your sessions with me by attending a Kitchen Confidence class, regardless of how accomplished you feel you are in the kitchen. It is also my belief that the more we care about the flavour and cooking of food, the more we respect the ingredients and enjoying each mouthful instead of scoffing it down mindlessly- the more likely it is that it will be healthy and delicious, and so will we be.

Weight is becoming one of South Africa's major health problems, and it may be because we love our food too little, not too much. If it naturally tastes fabulous, if every bite delights, if we are mindful during cooking, we will end up eating less, not to deprive ourselves, but because we will be satisfied.

Cookery School:

Hands-on cooking classes for groups of 8-10 people. The classes are on a Tuesday evening from 19h00 - 22h30 and will include a sit-down dinner.

All utensils, equipment and class notes will be supplied, but please bring your own apron. I have proper chef aprons available for sale ( in white or black)  with the KitchenAngel logo at R150  each.

Please note the Kitchen Confidence classes are on a MONDAY evening 7-11pm.

Cost per person: R450 (hands-on tuition, notes & ingredients). Scroll down to click the name of the class you wish to attend in the schedule and complete the booking form. I will send you an invoice, please note, no booking will be secured without payment on issue of the invoice.

Please do not assume that non-payment means I'll know that you've changed your mind.....if you've received an invoice and can no longer attend the class PLEASE send me an email so that I can delete your name and invoice from the system and allow someone else to take your place.

Please refer to the cancellation policy on the booking form. Should you not be able to attend a class, please advise timeously otherwise you will forfeit your payment.

Team building excercises : Minimum 8 and maximum 30 people per session. Cost: R450 per person inclusive of ingredients and recipes. To discuss a specific theme for your group, please contact me via the booking form or on 021 6835318.

I also cater for private functions such as weddings, birthdays, cocktail parties and private dinners.
